Impressive stately mansion, erected in mid 15th century,  overlying  the ancient Roman basement ground of Cividale del Friuli, between Piazza del Duomo and the attractive Corso Mazzini. The façade, as we can admire it nowadays,  overlooks the wide square and is the result of remarkable refurbishing works carried out in the following century, in the 1500s, which converted the Renaissance styled front by adding typical Manneristic architectural features.
At the end of the 19th century the palace was restructured again, becoming the eminent seat of the local museum, named “Regio Museo Archeologico di Cividale”, the Royal Museum of Archaeology of Cividale.
However from 1990 all the material and collections of archaeological, historic, artistic interest, as well as the overall book heritage and archives were moved to the neighbouring Palazzo dei Provveditori Veneti or Palazzo Pretorio – so becoming the new venue of the present National Archaeological Museum of Cividale.
From 2010 the state museum Palazzo de Nordis is the eminent location of several temporary exhibitions, aimed to shed light upon artistic instances, concerning both special features and excellence, of Friuli and surroundings.
